Symptomatic treatment of mild, moderate & severe Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderlyMild to moderate Alzheimer's disease Initially 5 mg/day in the evening (prior to retiring). Dose can be increased to 10 mg/day after at least 1 mth of clinical assessment of treatment at 5 mg/day. Max: 10 mg/day. Severe Alzheimer's disease 10 mg/day, only after daily dose of 5 mg for 4-6 wk. If not tolerated, reduce to 5 mg.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Place on the tongue & allow to disintegrate before swallowing w/ or w/o water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to piperidine derivatives.
Special Precautions
Underlying cardiac condition abnormalities, history of ulcer disease or those receiving concurrent NSAIDs, history of asthma or obstructive pulmonary disease. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
